A Graphic Cosmogony

The newest release from Nobrow press explores alternative theories on the creation of the universe. The 24 artists featured have 7 pages to tell their story featuring anything from "a magician’s act, a simulation game, a failed school assignment, a yurt-dweller’s break from boredom, the tears of a grief-stricken stag or the contents of a cyclops’ vacuum-cleaner bag".

I wonder what Hawking would have to say on these new ideas, whole religions have been based on stories just as far- fetched.

Merry Christmas, I'd like this one in my stocking please santa.

Tron

This is a projection on the roof of the Southbank in London celebrating the release of Tron Legacy. Sci-fi to the max, who's excited?! Featuring parts of the Daft Punk soundtrack and FX from the film.

Some nice stuff to look at on a monday

I bought two lovely things from Magma in London last week. Number one is Fire and Knives magazine, a beautiful quarterly about food. Really well printed and designed. Number two is a notebook with hexagons instead of lines.

Then this morning I recieved a free mailout from Glasgow Press. It shows off all the brilliant letterpress they do and is designed by Kerr Vernon.

Allison Connell

A lovely project docmenting a years worth of sketches. Allison Connell bound a sketchbook each month, its a beautiful inspiration for different ways of binding books.

Here is Septembers, which uses single sheets bound with rubber bands.
Decembers uses four pamplets attatched together.

Lernert & Sander... again

This is my second post about this collaborative duo, better know for their work in film. This new piece of work was commissioned by selfridges to celebrate the opening of their new shoe department, but finishes at the beginning of november. They've taken mundane household objects and turned them into extravagant sculptural surreal shoe designs.

Exercises on How to be cool.

This is a new project by video installation artist Ruaidhri Ryan. Keep an eye on his website in the next few weeks for a series of amusing little videos.

"The shorts are about my embarassing failure to do anything cool, in a paired down way, I play a clown. They follow on from some of my previous videos, where I took scenes from existing movies where the protagonist is playing a macho or sexy character, and I fail to replicate their performance. These new videos play less with specific films and more of an amalgamation of ideas of "what cool is" based on images/adverts/movies."
